Children's Winter Recess Programs: MAKE A DREAMCATCHER and VICTORIAN TEA PARTY (Huntington Station)
MAKE A DREAMCATCHER - 1:00 PM. Dreamcatchers were originally made by the children of Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee. These Native Americans of the Great Plains believed the air was filled with both good and bad dreams. Learn the legend of how dreamcatchers trapped all bad dreams. Dreamcatchers were hung in the tipi or ledge and on a baby's cradle board. Create your very own to hang in a special place.
VICTORIAN TEA PARTY - 2:30 PM. Join the party! This fun and informative program includes role-playing while teaching social skills, self-esteem and confidence. Children learn dining manners, such as how to properly hold and cut with a knife and fork. Apple juice will be substituted for the hot tea. Participants also practice table setting and introductions. All make their own nametag and place card. Bring a friend or your favorite doll or come join new friends at the party! Dress up if you wish!
PROGRAMS INCLUDE A GUIDED TOUR OF THE WALT WHITMAN BIRTHPLACE.
