"We offer families a natural environment where they can learn about wildlife and animals through education and entertainment.
The Long Island Game Farm Wildlife and Children's Zoo features hundreds of animals, including an 18-foot giraffe, red kangaroos, kinkajous, cougars, Barbados sheep, peacocks, and the only lemurs born and bred on Long Island. Our animal collections include both exotic and indigenous breeds. We have various breeds of monkeys, buffalo, colorful parrots, zebra, aoudads, camels, ostrich, alligator, and much more.
Experience the thrill of discovery as you explore nature trails that lead to places like "Bambiland," "The Nursery," and "Old MacDonald's Farmyard."
The Game Farm also has many interactive areas where guests can touch and, unlike most zoos, actually feed the animals!
"Please Touch" is the motto in our petting zoo areas where you can pet, cuddle, and bottle feed the baby animals. "Old MacDonald's Farmyard," for example, provides a true barnyard experience where pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and ponies are all within arms reach.
Children can also enjoy one of our carnival-style rides such as the Spinning Teacups, Rio Grande Mini Train or the Antique Carousel. If that's not enough, we offer pony rides as well. Our daily shows and animal activities will round out your day.
"The Long Island Game Farm is inviting children from all over Long Island to Camp Zoo in Manorville, New York. Camp Zoo is a weeklong summer day camp with weekly sessions running through July and August.
Designed for children 4 - 11 years of age, Camp Zoo will provide children with a fun-filled, rich learning environment they will remember all year.
Each day at Camp Zoo will offer new and exciting experiences such as zoo-tours, close-up animal encounters, and nature walks. In addition, there will be arts and crafts activities, animal stories and sing-alongs, nature-related games, and informative animal tours. Special behind the scenes activities will be offered that are only available to children who attend Camp Zoo.
Camp Zoo has been developed with the guidance of Irene Nowell, former Superintendent of Schools at Remsenburg-Speonk UFSD and current Education Field Supervisor at Dowling College.
Each session will take place at the Game Farm from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Camp is held rain or shine. Campers will receive a simple mid-morning and afternoon snack. Campers will provide their their own lunch. We provide water and juice.
Campers will take part in a wide variety of activities and projects."
